The Highway and Sanitation Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Village Streets and Properties, Snow and Ice Removal on Public Property and Garbage Collection.
The Department is also responsible for the maintenance of:
- Village Parks
- The Ted Stroble building containing the Senior’s Center and Justice Court
- Village owned parking lots
- The Care and repair of all village vehicles
- Picking up leaves and brush that residents put out by the curb as per Village Code
The Village of Monticello Highway Department strives to keep Village roads safe and clean. Hours of operation are 7am until 3 pm Monday thru Friday. We are also on call 24/7 for any inclement weather and road conditions that may affect traffic.
The Village of Monticello Sanitation Department has three garbage collection routes that pick up all residential and commercial garbage within the village from 4am until 12 pm Monday thru Friday. In the summer we have a fourth run and we go to a 6 day a week pickup
Residential garbage must be in in cans not larger than 45 gallons. Cans must have tight fitting lids and not be placed curbside before 5PM the night before collection, nor later than 5 am on day of pickup. Cans must be removed from curbside no later than 9PM on day of collection and stored out of public view. Dumpsters must be no larger than 2 yards with a 78 inch rear load turion bar.
